"Digital Experience and the 21st century" – Summer 2026

In my digital paintings I was thinking about how to express myself beyond the constraints of Modernist formal elements and Post Modern self-identifying criticism. As a Mexican-American artist, my resolution has been the expression of myself through “contemporary painting.” Listening to music, watching sporting events, and consuming popular culture are some things that produce my creative energy. These avenues for creation allow me to be more expressive in a direct application of mark making. 

Another aspect of creativity that is important to me is the digital translation of expression into art object. Contemporary mechanisms and technology inform how I think about the image or the screen and its pictorial construction. Simultaneously, I utilize painting as both concept and material for mark making. In conclusion, my practice as a Mexican-American creates new arenas of thinking and navigating in the 21st century that are expressive of my identity, navigation of time and space, and my formal language as an Artist.
